Concrete Lifting In Park City, UT
Park City is one of the most beautiful places to call home in the state of Utah. But living in Park City won’t allow to escape from the difficulties of settling concrete.
We recently had a customer in Park City’s Promontory community that needed help with a patio that has been settling. The patio was poured next to the house on a hillside. The concrete patio had dropped about 3” on the outside edge and about 1” at the house side. This had been happening because the was weak soil about 3’ below the area where the patio was poured. Over 2-3 years as the earth below the concrete settled, gravity did its job and took the patio with it.
The solution to fix the settled patio without having to tear it out and replace it, was to provide strength to the weak soil about 3’ below the concrete and lift the concrete back into place.
PolyFoam Solutions performed 3 deep injections about 3’ below the surface of the concrete around the weak soil. These deep injections deposit a large amount of structural polyurethane “grout” into the soil. As the grout begins to expand 20-30 times its original volume, it compacts the soil and increases its bearing capacity (ability to hold up the concrete above it).
Once we had strengthened the soil down deep, it was a simple task to inject more structural foam under the surface of the concrete and bring it back up to the correct elevation once again.
This saved the homeowner tens of thousands of dollars compared to the alternative of tearing out and replacing the entire patio on the steep hillside.
